Euro Label Printers are a leading UK label printer based in Hackford Road, South London. A family owned business for more than 35 years, the company is able to design and print a wide range of label types for a multitude of uses. This includes labels for campaign and promotional use; data, asset and security; food and drink and fast moving consumer goods. The company has very strong environmental credentials and is able to offer a family of eco-products which are recycled, recyclable and biodegradable.
Since being established in 1974 Euro Label Printers has continued to invest in research, new machinery and staff development. Like any business, the company is always looking for ways to improve output capacity, profitability and expand into profitable markets.
In 2009 the company recognised that they were losing out in the low volume label market. The existing print setup meant that short print runs were costly and time consuming to produce, and thus the company outsourced much of this work, something which had a real negative impact on profitability.
Euro Label Printers were unsure, however, of what solution they would need if they were to bring the work in-house and become more competitive to better capitalise on the low volume label market.
It was a chance call from First Choice Business Systems in June 2009 that put the company back on track:
“We knew we couldn’t carry on outsourcing the short run labels but were unsure of the best way forward or what would be the most appropriate solution for us” explains John Bailey, Director of Euro Label Printers.
“We were frustrated – the business was there for the taking but we weren’t able to take advantage of it.”
After carrying out a detailed analysis of the business and conducting lengthy discussions with John, First Choice Business Systems recommended a Xerox 8254E wide format printer, with a cutter and a suite of finishing software. This would enable a dramatic reduction in costs and allow for much faster production, with a competent and efficient workflow. In addition the solution provides Euro Label Printers with a proofing process with complete control of colour management and media use, as well as the ability to contour cut.
Following the installation of the Xerox 8254E in mid 2010, John believes that Euro Label Printers are now making an extra £500 per week thanks to the Xerox solution:
“The machine has increased our capabilities so much that I can foresee it paying for itself within twelve months! The machine is great and is proving to be extremely reliable, something which is absolutely crucial to us in fulfilling orders on-time and upholding our strong reputation.”
