Energy Star Explained
Xerox is one of the biggest suppliers in the printing industry who have received many environmental awards worldwide. Xerox not only offer digital multifunction printers, they have also been highly credited for their energy-efficient solutions. Due to this, First Choice works very closely with Xerox in a bid to provide customers with environmentally friendly printers, copiers and other systems that help cut greenhouse gas production. Xerox became a Charter Partner to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® program 18 years ago.
The ENERGY STAR® program, initiated in 1993 is a symbol to show customers that a printer has specific energy saving attributes. According to Xerox “a product's ability to enter a power-saver mode, or series of modes, after a specified period of non-use is a key factor in winning ENERGY STAR® status.”
Fourteen years later in 2007 the ENERGY STAR® requirements tightened to increase existing benefits to the customer and the environment. From 2007 products now have to be measured against Typical Electricity Consumption (TEC) and have to obtain duplex options, signage and documentation.
