The advantages of solid ink technology
When considering what printer will work best for your office it is always great to know that you can be doing your bit for the environment. Choosing a solid ink printer over the normal laser printer has many advantages not only to your company’s expenses but will also benefit the environment.
Solid ink technology has been around for over 10 years and in that time Xerox has been able to reduce the energy consumption of solid ink printers from over 75% by an additional 42%. These printers use less energy over the light cycle and will even go down to its lowest power mode when not in use to save even more energy.
Not only do these printers save energy and costs they have a smaller carbon footprint, conserve raw materials and produce 90% less waste than a normal laser printer. A laser printer generates 450 pounds of waste over a four year period, but only 23 pounds of waste is generated by a solid ink printer over the same time period.
These solid ink printers will make such a difference in office productivity, office costs and most importantly how we treat the environment. However, look out for Energy Star certified printers as these printers save 30% more energy than those that aren’t.
